SOLD OUT - Bulrush & Wetland Friends Shoulder Bag

  • Field and Forest Crafts Classroom 12535 15th Avenue Northeast Seattle, WA, 98125 United States (map)

Let’s make an over-the-shoulder pouch out of wetland friends - bulrush, cattail, yellow flag iris, and burr reed. Bulrush will be our foundation and is an incredibly sturdy plant fiber that retains flexibility once woven. It’s my favorite for pouches and hats.

We’ll weave around a wooden form and you can choose to make a vertical or horizontal pouch - finished size approx 5.5 inches x 7 inches x 2 inches - perfect for your cellphone, wallet, etc. You will then add either a bulrush or cattail cordage strap and closure (if wanted). *If working with larger fiber cordage is difficult for your, I will have natural alternatives.

No experience needed though it will be a challenging project for a brand new weaver. Minimum age: 16 accompanied by a paying adult.

Workshop will be held over lunch - please plan to bring a sack lunch or snacks to stay onsite. There is a fridge and microwave.

Class registration is NON-REFUNDABLE. However, if you want to sell or give your spot to a friend, I’m happy to welcome someone else in your place. Due to the nature of the projects (materials/soaking, etc) and the small class sizes, I’m unable to support refunds or credits.
