SOLD OUT - Wild Weave Trial Workshop (NE Seattle)

  • My Home - NE Seattle Neighborhood Seattle, WA 98125 United States (map)

*Please accept my apologies for the poor photo quality - needed to get this out there!*

Wonderful adventurous weavers, join me in a trial class to explore the beginnings of the random weave technique to make what I call a “wild weave”. Each student will build the foundation of their wild weave with rehydrated willow rods. Then it’s time to play. If you want to stick with ONLY locally farmed and forage materials we’ll have wisteria, bark, cedar cones, cordage making supplies and other fun things to play with. If you want to branch out to other materials, I have half a dozen different natural twines and some surprises to play with. Let your imagination go wild! I’m excited to see what you make. What the class does not include are the “at home” materials I reference in the slideshow - the idea is that you make your wild weave as a foundation for future decoration (best decorated once hung in place).

Why is this a “trial”? Well, I’ve not taught this class before. I dont know how long it will take you or what materials you might gravitate towards - so let’s play! I have scheduled the class for 3 hours…I really dont expect us to go over 2 hours BUT I dont want to rush anyone. This is a project that takes time to fiddle, explore, rethink and be open to change. There is no exact way to do it and no right or wrong. So if you are ok with a little unknown - lets do it!

What I hope you will offer is constructive feedback, suggestions, and flexibility.

We’ll be meeting rain or shine in my backyard (which is lovely I promise) - I will have pop up tents if needed.

The class maximum is 5 students. Minimum age is 18 for this workshop.
