Make a one-of-a-kind ribbed berry basket while getting to know wonderful weave-able plants that thrive here in the PNW.
Ribbed baskets are an excellent beginner basket. Once you learn the basics, you can make baskets of all shapes and sizes. This weaving technique is ideal for all kinds of weaving materials - from plants, to rope, to old cloth scraps. In this 7 hour class, you will learn how to create the basket frame, add ribs for shape, and weave with several locally and sustainably foraged plants. You'll get to know each plant you use, where they grow, when to harvest, how to store, and the best way to prepare them for weaving.
This is a two-in-one class…learning about local materials AND technique - come soak up all you can! The small class size (10 max) creates ample opportunity for questions and exploration.
The class will be held over lunch, please plan to bring a sack lunch. It's a short break so we will need to stay on site for lunch.
Class registration is NON-REFUNDABLE. However, if you want to sell or give your spot to a friend, I’m happy to welcome someone else in your place. Due to the nature of the projects (materials/soaking, etc) and the small class sizes, I’m unable to support refunds or credits.
