Pine needle coil basketry is a life long basketry skill. Foraging your own needles is relatively easy once you know what to look for…or you can buy them online. They are simple to clean, easy to store, and last for years! You don’t even need special tools. Pine needles, thread and a needle - that’s it! (There is even a technique where you ONLY use pine needles - so cool)
The goal for this workshop is to familiarize you with the basic spiral stitch starting on a pre-drilled birch wood base using all natural Irish waxed linen and locally gathered Ponderosa pine needles. We’ll discuss gathering and the preparation of needles as well as other techniques you may want to explore.
In our 4 hour session, you should comfortably complete a small 4 inch diameter basket - similar to these below:
Minimum age 14.
Class maximum: 10 students | Class minimum: 6 students. If registration minimum is not reached, all students will be notified and receive a full refund.
Class registration is NON-REFUNDABLE. However, if you want to sell or give your workshop series to a friend, I’m happy to welcome someone else in your place. Due to the nature of the projects (materials/soaking, etc) and the small class sizes, I’m unable to support refunds or credits.
